When did anyone last get to step back and look at your school's music as a whole?
The full PML Insight curriculum diagnostic, an expert review of your wider music offer and a practical three-term plan. Built for schools with a music specialist, a non-specialist lead, visiting tutors, or all three.
Schools come to the audit for different reasons. Some are stretched, some are curious, some are already strong and ready to go further. Every line on the left is something we hear from music leads, specialists, heads and business managers.
Music is one of many areas I lead. I never get the time to step back and look at it properly.
A specialist does the stepping back for you, then hands you the priorities in order.
I know my subject. What I don't have is time, or anyone to talk it through with.
Another music professional reads your work closely and gives you a conversation worth having.
I honestly can't remember the last time I had CPD as a music specialist.
Fresh challenge and thinking from someone who has helped more than 40 schools develop their music.
We have a scheme, a visiting tutor, a choir and weekly lessons. Nobody has looked at how they fit together.
Your whole music offer seen as one picture, including what children experience as they move through it.
We haven't looked closely at music for a while. I couldn't tell you how well it's going.
A clear, evidenced picture of music in your school, without you needing to become a musician.
Music is already a strength here. We want to know what excellent looks like next.
External challenge and a clear route from good to exceptional.
Before I approve anything, I need to know exactly what we're paying for.
One fixed price, clearly defined deliverables, and the choice to pay by card or invoice.
Whoever forwarded you this page, you probably have a question or two. Here are the ones we hear most.
Often those are the schools that get the most from it. Your specialist knows exactly how much work a proper review takes, and rarely has the time to do one. The audit gives them capacity, an independent view and a fellow professional to think alongside.
Every page is written for a school leader. Plain language, your school's own words first, and the evidence sitting right beside each observation. If you can read a curriculum review in maths, you can lead from this.
No grades. No scores. No verdicts. A tick for what is in place and a "worth checking" note for what we couldn't see yet. Staff should finish feeling seen and supported.
A scheme gives you lessons. It can't tell you how well those lessons fit together with your tutors, clubs, assessment and timetable. The audit looks at the whole picture, and it often shows you how to get far more from the scheme you already have.
Set it beside a year of scheme licences or a term of tutor time, then ask what you know at the end of each. This is a clearly scoped, fixed-price review that helps every other music pound go further. If your focus is curriculum music only, there are smaller starting points further down.
The audit is complete in its own right. You get the findings and the plan, and you can lead every step yourselves. If you'd like support later, it's there.
These are Primary Music Lab's own review dimensions, read against the national curriculum and Ofsted's music research review. The Full Music Offer Audit covers all three. PML Insight looks at the first.

From 41 teacher feedback forms across 23 schools, collected after two primary music CPD sessions I led and facilitated in November 2025 and January 2026. Confidence figures use the 28 teachers who answered both before and after.
This is great and what I was after, thank you for sharing. It helps us to get a clearer understanding of what to expect from our music lessons.
This looks AMAZING! Thanks so much for getting into a 30-session programme and for tying into our topics.
Thanks for responding to previous feedback -it’s become better and better.
Thank you - it’s always a well-organised and wonderful training.

I'm a Music Service Senior Manager and primary music specialist with over 10 years in music education and primary schools. I lead borough-wide programmes responsible for the curriculum delivery of around 5,000 young musicians every week, and over the last few years I've worked with more than 40 schools to improve their music provision. Each year I lead concerts at the Royal Festival Hall. I've worked alongside expert music specialists, class teachers picking up music for the first time, visiting tutors and the heads who hold it all together. I know what each of them needs, and I know how different every school's setup can be.
I founded Primary Music Lab so every school can have music that is coherent, ambitious and built to last, whoever is on the staff list this year. Your audit brings that standard to your school, with the care of someone who has done this work at scale.
You share what you already have. Primary Music Lab does the investigating, the evaluating and the writing.
Send over what you already have through a short online form, or talk it through in a virtual conversation. Staff can add an anonymous ten-minute confidence snapshot.
Your curriculum runs through the full PML Insight diagnostic, then I review your wider music offer and the systems behind it with bespoke expert advice.
Your findings report, three-term roadmap and one-page music briefing arrive, ready to share with your head, governors or trust.
Talk the findings through with me, with your music lead and a senior leader, and agree what matters most first.
The report is what you receive. The real value is a clear picture, a specialist's time and a plan your school can act on. Here's everything included.
The full PML Insight curriculum diagnostic, checked and interpreted by me, with prioritised recommendations for your curriculum music.
Pupil opportunities, singing, instrumental pathways, inclusion, staffing and leadership, reviewed with bespoke expert advice for your school's setup.
An anonymous ten-minute survey, so you hear where teachers feel strong and where they'd welcome support, without anyone having to say it in the staffroom.
What's in place, what's worth checking and what wasn't visible in what you shared, with your school's own words beside every observation. Clear enough to forward straight to your head.
Prioritised next steps, term by term: what comes first, who leads it and what it needs. A working plan, written to be used rather than filed.
Time with me to talk the findings through and agree your first priorities together.

Your report arrives within four weeks of receiving your information. Most of that time is the analysis and my review. Your part takes a few hours at the start.
Whatever you already have: your music curriculum or scheme overview, your music timetable, details of who teaches what, any planning, how music is assessed, and details of visiting provision. If some of it doesn't exist yet, that's useful to know too. Send what's there.
Whoever leads music, specialist or not, plus a senior leader if you take up the optional virtual check-in. Class teachers only need ten minutes for the anonymous confidence snapshot. Your business manager just needs the invoice.
The revised national curriculum is due to be published by spring 2027, with first teaching from September 2028. Most schools have a long way to go with their music offer to be ready for what's coming, and the schools that know where they stand now will have the most time to prepare.
Book before the new curriculum is published and I'll refresh your findings and roadmap against it, free, once it's out. You get a head start now and an update when it matters.
Never. You get observations and evidence. What's in place, what's worth checking and what wasn't visible in what you shared. You stay in charge of what it means for your school.
It gives you an independent, evidenced picture of how your music offer is designed, delivered and supported, and it surfaces the right questions about progression. It can't verify what every pupil has learned. Where something needs a closer look in classrooms, the plan will say so.
You will, and that's healthy. Strong music provision takes years to build. Your plan is sequenced across three terms with the smallest sensible step first, so nothing lands on anyone's desk all at once.
It helps, and it's free, but it isn't required. If you haven't taken it, we'll cover the same ground when you share your information.
Many schools lead the plan themselves, and that's exactly what it's built for. If you'd like support while you do, Lab Membership gives your school ongoing guidance across the academic year.
You can pay straight away by card through secure online checkout, or request an invoice so it goes through your usual finance process. The Full Music Offer Audit is £495 with no VAT added.
PML Insight looks at your curriculum music, and your school leads the process. The Full Music Offer Audit includes the full Insight diagnostic, then goes further into your wider music offer and the systems behind it, with me leading the work from start to finish.
Once you've booked, you'll hear from me personally within two working days to set a start date. Your report arrives within four weeks of receiving your information.
